Review: InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask

As someone who dyes their hair very often, the process can be drying for my hair strands so I am always looking for a good hair mask or hair treatment to use afterwards. I was given the opportunity from InstaNatural to try out their InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask and to write an honest review to share with my readers about the experience.

For my review, I will be talking about the results I have seen from using this for one week. I will also include a tip on how to know how much hair mask or conditioner to use for your hair. :)

The InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask is formulated with argan oil, amino acid complex, coconut oil, shea butter, and vitamin B5 that all work together to give life to damaged or lack luster hair. Argan oil is best used for improving hair shine and resilience. If you often split ends or your hair strands are breaking when you comb it, you should start incorporating a hair mask into your hair care routine.

Restorative Ingredients in the InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask:
  • Argan Oil: Nourishes and promotes shine. Prevents hair damage from heat styling.
  • Japanese Green Tea (Camelia): Nourishes and promotes shine [common in Japanese hair care products]
  • Amino Acid Complex: Repairs damaged hair
  • Coconut Oil: Nourishes and promotes shine.
  • Shea Butter: Nourishes hair
  • Jojoba Oil: Nourishes hair
  • Avocado Oil: Nourishes hair and repairs damaged hair
  • Vitamin B5: Repairs damaged hair
First Impressions:

The InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask comes in a jar container where you have to scoop out the amount of product you want to use for your hair. I can see this very large jar of hair mask lasting me a couple months because I don't need to use as much conditioner as before now that my hair is of medium length and no longer long.

Relating to the design aspect of this product, I wished this came in a squeeze tube for easier dispensing and for sanitary reasons. Every time you are sticking your fingers into a pot of makeup/hair care stuff, you risk contaminating it with bacteria if you forgot to wash your hands first. This could cause breakouts on the skin or scalp because its a vessel for bacteria to grow.

It says it is safe to use as a daily conditioner. If you have used hair masks before from other brands, usually they recommend to use once or twice per week. I am thinking this hair mask won't be too greasy feeling and heavy if it can be used daily.

One of my favorite things about InstaNatural is that their ingredients list is easy to understand and that includes this product. I am not reading only scientific names for a bunch of things and having no idea what it is I am putting in my hair.

This is important to mention for people who have allergies to certain natural ingredients because they can just read and avoid the risk of having to try it and break out into a skin rash or something worse.

How to figure out how much hair mask or conditioner to use:
Split your hair in half and wrap your index and thumb to form a "O" shape (almost like the "Okay!" hand gesture, haha.) Wrap and overlap these fingers  until you are able to gage the thickness of your hair. Then slide your hand down, keeping the "o" shape.

Look at circle you made with these two fingers. This is how much hair mask/conditioner you need to use for your hair for medium lengths. If you have long length hair then double the size of the circle. For short hair, its half of the circle.

Always apply hair masks and conditioners from the mid-section to the ends of your hair. Don't rub it into the roots.

Review:

My first reaction when opening the jar is that it smells delicious but of course this is not an edible product. To me it smelled like cookie batter or cake batter (most likely because of the shea butter) and very close to the baked goods related scents for body lotions and scrubs. The InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask is a creamy light khaki color and has a very thick consistency.

With hair conditioners, sometimes the heavier and greasy feeling ones can lead to skin breakouts because conditioner residue can get left on the head, back, chest, or fringe areas of the face. When using the InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask, it didn't give me any adverse skin reactions. It was able to wash out completely and easily.

My hair the next day...still a few flyaways but not as many as before.
The morning after using the InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask, my hair felt very soft. It was not as frizzy as before and my layered hair ends weren't flipping in different directions when I woke up in the morning. I was able to skip the step of flat ironing my hair ends! There were still a couple flyaways on the top of my head though.

My hair looked even shinier than usual. I didn't see it stripping the color of my dyed hair when I used this product for a week. With each use, my hair is looking better than ever!

Final Thoughts:
I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants a hair mask/conditioner that is very nourishing and doesn't feel heavy in your hair. It really leaves your hair looking and feeling good.

The only thing that is bothersome is that you have to twist open the jar to use it in the shower. Make sure to close it tightly so it won't dry out. Other than that I think the InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask is amazing.

  1. This sounds brilliant! However I have thin and fine hair, do you think it'll weigh it down?

    1. I don't think it will. My cousin has a similar hair type as you and she told me she uses argan oil in her hair and her hair looks nice. If you are worried about the InstaNatural Hair Mask weighing it down then you should use it once or twice a week instead of daily. I found this to be a lot lighter compared to other hair masks I have tried so daily use should be okay. If anything, if you see your hair weighed down, use a clarifying shampoo to remove the excess oil/build-up at the roots or shampoo your hair twice to give it volume.
